On Wednesday of the week that we visited Las Vegas we got the bus to Fremont Street because everyone said that you have to go to Fremont Street to really get the old Las Vegas feel. It was about a 45 minute bus ride from the Strip. Along the way we saw a lot of Bail Bond businesses and wedding chapels. When we arrived in the area, we crossed a street and went into a covered street which was Fremont Street. So, the first few pictures are daytime pictures. We went into a few casinos, mingled with some of the locals, then went to a restaurant for supper. It wasn't too busy. Kind of nice easy going atmosphere. When we came out of the restaurant it was almost dark and the whole street had come alive! Live concerts and street performers (all with a Halloween theme), people everywhere, and slot machines ringing. Even the canopy over the street lights up! We went on the Flightlinez, which is a zip line over Fremont Street. The launch pad is 67 ft high, with a drop of 53 ft. the length of the zip is 824 ft long, up to 30 mph all in 29 seconds for $15 each (before 6:00 p.m.)! I think it was the best $15 we ever spent!
:-)
The only thing I saw there that reminded me of Ellen was a souvenir of a plastic lady in a glass, so I had to take a picture of her for Ellen. Oh! And, I finally met Big Bird - after all these years! I just don't remember him having a Southern Accent?!
