Eye Candy, Ellen!

A few weeks ago, John and I went on a little road trip to Bridgeport again to visit our friends. Of course while we were out there, we took the opportunity to visit a few other places that we had never seen, Valleypond, Tizzard's Harbour and Long Point Light House. The weather was lovely and the views exquisite! Below are some photos from Bridgeport, Valleypond and Tizzard's Harbour. Eye candy!
We'll save Long Point for next post.

Ellen stayed at home this time because there was no modelling work for her. I did knit a road trip hat! Had to model it myself though because Ellen doesn't have a head. Note to self:  must buy a styrofoam head if I'm going to be knitting hats.

I knit this hat from a pattern in called Welted Toque in Weekend Hats by Cecily Glowik Macdonald and Melissa Labarre. It's knit with Knit Picks Wool of the Andes. Fun pattern to knit.

Sittin' pretty at Valleypond

We found a cellar at Tizzard's Harbour

Our friends' shed. I like the way the wheelbarrow is laying against the shed with the
light and shadows.

We stayed in the house on the hill.
This is the view from the deck.

Doug's boat - See the reflection of the sky in the water and then unto the boat at the back? Lovely.

Ellen's Adventure #2

In this post Ellen is modelling what will be a twisted wrap that I started for the journey.  Had to leave the lace purse at home remember? Needed something easy for the road so I could do some sightseeing.  The twisted wrap is knit with Berlini Bejewel which is made from 70% viscose, 20% polyester and 10% nylon. This yarn looks like it has small crystals imbedded into it.  Feels kind of crunchy but soft at the same time. I think it will be a nice holiday piece.  Found this pattern in One Ball Knits but changed it to suit the yarn.  Now it will be a four ball knit!

The other pictures below are some of the Community of Bridgeport.  I agreed with Ellen that she can appear in each post but not in every picture.  After all it is about her adventure!  :-)  Please come back again tomorrow.  There's lots more!

Ellen's Adventure #1

Just back from the weekend adventure in Bridgeport, Newfoundland (near Twillingate - will get to that later in the week) and surrounding areas.  Ellen had a grand time and met so many new friends. Some thought it a little weird that she was hanging out with humans, while others were totally supportive.  All in all, a very productive trip.  There's so much to show you and so much to say that we'll have to do it in a few posts.

The evening we arrived, the weather was superb and Bridgeport Harbour was beautifully calm so we got to work right away.  Ellen is shown below all cosied up in a sweater I knit for myself in late Spring.  By the time I finished it, the weather was too warm to wear it (although some would disagree!).  The sweater is machine knit, hand finished, with Knit Picks City Tweed HW in a pattern I designed myself.  I wanted a big comfy sweater with a sweatshirt fit.  It should be perfect for Fall.

In the background behind Ellen you'll see the beautiful Bridgeport landscape/seascape, as well as our friends' fishing shed and wharf.

There's more to follow during the week so please check back.  I'll include some non-Ellen photos to give you a taste of this beautiful place.  Ellen thought she should be in all the photos! Wasn't that the purpose of bringing her along? I explained to her that I don't have enough items knit for her to model in many different settings and we don't want to bore our audience.  She reluctantly agreed.  :-)
